I started empathy coaching in the midst of a challenging season. I have always supported others but often neglected myself. I constantly gave, even if it meant pouring from an empty cup. I was physically exhausted, mentally drained and disconnected from my body and its needs. If I did make myself a priority, I felt the need to justify it because of guilt. Through empathy coaching, I have learned to extend grace to myself. I am unapologetic about identifying my needs and I am slowing down instead of moving on to the next task. For the first time in years, I am making decisions for myself instead of the wants or needs of others. I am finally choosing me.
